Don’t Use Antibacterials To Fight Seasonal Allergies and Colds

Although almost everyone loves spring, nobody likes the allergies or seasonal colds that come along with it. That doesn’t mean you should depend on antibacterials to solve your problems. Many name brand lotions and soaps include a toxic chemical known as Triclosan. This chemical is found in about 75% of peoples’ urine and stores itself in tissue in the body. When using lotions with this chemical, it’s very easy for the oils to seep through the skin and into the blood stream. Some dish liquids have this chemical, which when reacted with chlorine in tap water, can form a toxic gas. This chemical is found in so many everyday products we use. Instead, try using generic creams and soaps to reduce the risk of having excessive amounts of Triclosan in your system.

How Everyone Can better Themselves

Some of us may have busier schedules then others, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help local charities or larger organizations. Everybody can do something for the community, even if it’s the smallest of things. The little things will still impact someone one way or another. You should start off by doing some research. Look for charities/organizations that have some meaning to you; you’ll find yourself enjoying your volunteer hours or donations much more. Once you’ve found the group that sparks your interest, you should visit their website to see their mission statement, or if you’d like to be more hands on, visit them onsite. After you visit, you’ll know if that’s place for you. Remember to also keep it simple, you don’t have to go on a mission trip to help others, you could do something as easy as reading books to children in hospitals. Most importantly, remember the rewards are for everyone. You’re helping someone in need but feeling better about yourself too!

Antibacterials Are NOT Always the Answer

We all know with winter comes cold and flu season. In order for people to keep from being sick, you’ll often times see them putting on hand sanitizer and special antibacterial soaps. Scientists believe that with these special antibacterial substances, comes the rise of drug-resistant super-bugs. The drug that scientists are most concerned about is known as Triclosan, which has been registered as a pesticide. The FDA plans to ban this substance within the next few years. Scientists have come up with some products that you should refrain from purchasing because of the substance, Triclosan, it contains. These products include any lotions that promise antibacterial benefits, antibacterial dishwashing soaps, some types of sports clothes/towels, as well as plastic cutting boards. All of these items, when mixed with different chemicals can be extremely hazardous to us.
